Self
“Love is the Experience of Selflessness within the Self.” — Yogi Bhajan
One of the hardest tasks we are given in this life is to love ourselves. I have struggled with this very issue for most of my life. It wasn’t until I excepted and loved who I was that other people started excepting and loving me the way I was too.
I no longer needed to hide behind the mask. I no longer needed the numbing crutch of alcohol to socialize and open up.
You will see as you begin to practice self love more and more, people will except you as you’ve excepted yourself. There is no need to change who you are. Just Be You. You are Loved just the way God made you, other people will love you just as you are too.
Yogi Bhajan said during a lecture in 1994, “Do you know what love is? Love is an absolute power of self-totality. Love is not what you think love is. Love is a strength. Love is a goodness, like Godliness. There is no limit to it. There is no shortage in it. There is no bargaining in it. Where there is love, there is no question. Where there is a question, there is no love. Then it becomes business. Love is the totality of the self.
When you do not know who you are, how can you know who somebody else is? But we do talk to each other and we love each other. We relate to each other. We require that little warmth. We want to know. Otherwise, if love could be purchased, everybody would have paid a thousand dollars a pound for it. You know it doesn't work that way.
We would like to give you an experience of love within yourself so that you can understand your growth and you can understand how much you love yourself to find yourself. If you cannot find yourself, you can never find anybody you want to find.”
My prayer for you today is that you will see deep inside and love yourself. You already are what you seek. After all, “only when you love yourself, can you truly love others.”
