Vulnerability

“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”

.

When we are vulnerable we are more open to connecting honestly with other people. When we are going through things in our lives it is often easier to mask the pain by numbing ourselves in some way.  Substance, television, isolating etc. As a human race one of the hardest things to do is talk about our stresses, worries and pain. These days people are more receptive to happy go lucky conversations.  We all tend to be surrounded by negativity in the press that we often can’t handle any more drama. I find that being honest and open can be freeing. Not everyone likes everything I have to say, but I find that bottling things up often creates more pain.

Somewhere in life you need to be you, not what your religion wants, not what your society wants, not what your country wants, not what your neighbors want. No, you have to be you. Then, serve all with a big smile on your face.”
-Yogi Bhajan

“If you are not your name or what you look like; if you are not your work or family title; if you are not your pedigree; if you are not where you live, what you wear, what you own, who you know, or even what you think and feel; then who really are you?

Underneath the material identities is something more real. To go beyond the labels and into the essence of who you truly are can be an experience of vulnerability—especially when you have difficulty accepting that you are enough.

This realization begins to melt away the material attachments and external identities that you hold on to—that you have for so long believed would make you more worthy, yet were never quite enough. This letting go can be scary. When you allow yourself to do so, however, connection to your true essence is a joyful one that promises that you are, and everything will be, okay. Just be who you really are.

When we break open a seed, there is nothing inside; just pure, empty space. Yet, this space is filled with pure potentiality—the intelligence to transform “nothing” into creation (manifestation), life, abundance.

When you close your eyes and allow your mind to sit in stillness, or in a mantra, you go into that space of pure intelligence, and in that space, you find who you really are: your greatest power, your authentic Self. In your authentic Self, you have personality and life; but one that comes from pure essence rather than from the ego. You have desire, yet you are unattached. You are strong, yet vulnerable. And you are filled with joy, despite the wounds.

Your ability to tap into this empty space gives you power to come into your authentic identity—one that is uniquely beautiful, and one that is enough. And from it, you serve yourself and ultimately this world in the way that you were meant to live and serve: happily, healthfully, and whole.” Savitree Kaur @3hofoundation

My prayer for you today is that you will find your vunerability. Whether you are happy, sad, confused etc.......Don’t be afraid to show your true self! People will respect you for being open. Odds are, people will like you better once you remove the mask. Be vulnerable: look up, look in, look forward, look around and look back.

Have the courage to be vulnerable, and show the real you. Para- doxical as it may sound, there is real strength in vulnerability. It is tempting to show people the perfect version of you. You have spent years building shields in order to protect yourself and minimize the risk of painful criticism. You wear a mask to hide your imperfections. The danger of all this, however, is that you miss the chance to really be you. From that space can you make honest connections with others? Let this card inspire you to try out new things. Be your authentic self. Take risks; it is okay to fail. There is no such thing as perfection, let go of that false ideal. Vulnerability gets linked to fragility and getting hurt, on the contrary, it means that you do not need protection, there is nothing that you need to be protected from. Pretending to be vulnerable just to get what you want, manipulative and insincere. It takes bravery to show yourself, naked, and to expose yourself in all your vulnerable splendor. Authentic strength opens many doors leading to inner depth, real communication, love and the courage to follow your heart.
